Treasury Tuesday: Summer at the Library

I have the best memories of spending time at the library as a kid. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, we lived in a house with no air conditioning (which, if I'm remembering correctly, was the norm for our neighborhood), so when we weren't playing outside or laying in front of a fan, we were at the city library.  It was a cool, dim building, filled with what seemed to me like infinite children's books.  Every summer they had a game where if you read X number of books you would win something.  Each time you read another, they'd stamp your paper. The one I recall most clearly had a a swerving block path like a board game, and the stamp they'd use was shaped like footprints.  I think that was the summer I was reading a lot of John Bellairs.  Long story short, this treasury reminds me of those summers. After
all, even now, I get a craving to be in a room full of books when the weather gets warm.

When I was a kid, I loved spending my summers at the library. It was always cool and dark, the smell of paper and ink hanging in the air, and there was plenty to read.
